The Kingdom on the Hill

This project explores lost possibilities within an idealised, nostalgic past,. focusing on the misalignment between home as a physical space, the sense of home, and home as a person/people or an attachment to human connections. It begins by illustrating the notion of abandonment across multiple directions: social development, diasporic experience, and personal narrative.

This project depicts a commercial-residential building compound as an idealised kingdom, where childhood reality is chronologically separated from worldly bothers, rendering different flow of time at and above the ground level.

Chapter I

Space, Landscape, Narrative in Silence

Q & A with Joseph Lyn, addresses the imagination and idealism over a pragmatism building compound. The Chapter introduces the residential-business building compoundof Da Jiang Market as the artist gazes on landscapes of his hometown and his past; it is the Воскресение, a resurrection of hollow space.

Chapter II

Hic Nusquam Dragones

This chapter is about detaching and recreating a sense of home by projecting it somewhere else, picturing 'home' as three parallel concepts.
